Ah, life these days. If one were to peruse my blog as a means of seeing what I’m up to, it would seem all I do is go to events and parties to capture their essence on film. Head out for long weekend getaways with spectacular (no other word to describe) friends, incredible food, wine and frequent imbibition. And that would be accurate. Cool with me.
The latest: The Tofino Food and Wine Fest 2011, which was a perfect combination of personal catch up and ridiculous fun, and the documenting of the event itself; both aspects equally rewarding. This was my sixth visit to Tofino, specifically for this event and I am watching the seaside town become an unquestionable destination for its food and beverage related events and ‘end of the road’ culture.
While we did partake in bubbles, oysters and a multitude of enticing edibles, I assure you, there were a few virtuous moments.
(thank you Monique, for taking the shot on the right and making us look uber-cool).
As a whole, the weekend was non-stop laughter, ridiculous photo shoots and tons of sisterly love.
The food, as usual, was spectacular. But I have to give special kudos to the Wickaninnish Inn for their outstanding Smoked Black Cod Brandade with Onion Relish, Green Peas and Asiago (known to the common man as the best fried fish balls you could ever know.)
The perfect weekend was topped off with even more perfection, as we enjoyed dinner at Shelter, one of my favorite places to go in Tofino.
Soon after that, it was sadly time to leave. We said goodbye to our beautiful accommodation, the gardens it was tucked into and headed back down coast to wait out the year until next time.
Once again, I feel inclined to turn my biased view on my blog readers, and insist you check this event out. Oh, and P.S. Brunettes have more fun.
